The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) has issued a request for comments and opinion on proposed changes to regulations in the market.

Consumers, gambling businesses, stakeholders and members of the public are able to have their say on the suggested alterations to rules concerning marketing and advertising, unfair terms, and complaints and disputes.

Potential changes to UK regulations include a focus on compliance with the UK Advertising Codes to ensure that operators comply with consumer protection legislation, as well as various improvements to complaint handling.

Sarah Gardner, executive director of the UKGC, said: “We are proposing these changes because of the risk of consumer harm, concern about lack of compliance with consumer protection legislation, declining public trust in gambling and concerns about advertising.

“We’re very keen to hear the views of all those with an interest in the gambling industry.”

The proposed changes form part of a wider work programme, which will require regulators, industry and partners to collaborate to deliver changes.

The closing date for giving opinion on the potential changes is April 22.
